This Coordinator’s Corner section is being written as both Hart Kayser and myself are planning international trips. She is heading to Mexico to conduct research and teaching, while I am heading to Australia for 11 weeks, also for research and teaching. In addition, the June issue of the ASH A Leader has headlined an international, cooperative effort between ASH A and the Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists (CASLPA) to create mutual certification between the two countries. ASHA is also seeking to export their certification process to other interested countries. One option is to work with our American neighbors to the south (i.e., Mexico, Central and South American countries). Thus, the focus of this corner is to discuss and stress cooperative efforts between Division 14 and other interested groups that share common interests and goals, especially if these efforts “pay off” in reaching across our national borders.
