This Short Course is sponsored by Division 14 and presented by Dr. Joyce Harris, Associate Professor, Communication Sciences and Disorders Department, University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Harris' research interests include cultural diversity and literacy issues across the lifespan. She co-edited and contributed to Literacy in African American Communities. Her co-presenter is Dr. Carol Westby, Research Associate, University of New Mexico. Dr. Westby is director of Project BRIDGE, a program that prepares SLP students to work in classrooms to facilitate literacy in children from culturally/linguistically diverse backgrounds.
