We are excited to offer you this joint Perspectives issue from Division 14 and 15 (Gerontology). Dr. Angela Burda Riess, from Division 15, served as Guest Editor, working closely with Division 14 Editor Dr. Deborah Hwa-Froelich, to bring you this collaborative issue. Through four excellent articles, this issue will provide essential information along with data from numerous research studies in the area of dialect that can be of use to you in your daily practices, schools, and academic settings. ASHA has been in the forefront of providing its members with information regarding dialectal variations. This issue continues in that tradition. We hope these articles will shed light on how various aspects related to non-native speakers of English will affect the elderly specifically.
