Isn’t it nice to smell fall in the air? It serves to remind us how quickly time goes by and that another year is almost over. Division 14 had a fabulous year and grew by 221 affiliates in 2007, standing at 1,294 strong today. Thank you for your continued support of the Division! We had a wonderful response at the ASHA Schools 2007 conference in July. Division 14 was a major sponsor for that conference, and many of you received a significant registration discount. Because of its theme, Honoring Cultures, a great deal of information was provided that was beneficial to your work with CLD populations. Pencil in the date, Wed., Nov. 14, 2007. Division 14 is one of the sponsors for the Pre-Convention Summit on End of Life Care in Boston, on Nov. 14. The keynote speaker, Joanne Lynne, MD, a palliative care specialist, will discuss end-of-life medical care in America. Helen Sharp will cover issues related to dysphagia, and David Luterman will present on counseling skills at this point of care. The day will be full of excellent presenters. The agenda and registration form are online at www.asha.org/about/membership-certification/divs/.
