Special Interest Division 14 is undergoing changes as we grow and mature. What you may initially notice about the newsletter is that it is to be published three times this year instead of four. In addition to the newsletter publications, we will be having a new editor, that is Brian Goldstein. Welcome aboard, Brian. We look forward to many informative newsletter issues. I will be stepping down as newsletter editor so that I may assist in co-coordinating the division.
We still need to continue to serve our goals and objectives. However, we need to better define what those goals and objectives are. That is not possible without your input, support, and work. Some of you attended our Division 14 meeting in Seattle during the national Convention. One theme that was expressed was the formation of specialty recognition for serving culturally and linguistically diverse populations. Is this a direction that you wish to pursue? Another theme expressed was the formation of mentors for beginning and experienced clinicians, and the formation of mentors for beginning and experienced researchers. Is this another direction for us? Another theme expressed was having more sessions, workshops, teleconferences devoted to cultural and linguistic diversity. We need to know if these are the appropriate directions for our division. If we (all the members) are to pursue these directions, then they cannot be accomplished without your help. We need your support, feedback, and suggestions. You may reach Hart Kayser by phone or e-mail at 505-646-2631, Hkayser@NMSU.Edu or myself at 507–389–5841, Brice@vaxl.mankato.msus.edu. Please get in touch and get involved.
