2015 marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of SIG 14. Over the last two decades, SIG 14 has stayed true to its vision “to be a leading resource for (a) advancing knowledge regarding the importance of cultural and linguistic diversity and its influence on human communication and (b) the infusion of this knowledge into research, education, and clinical practice.” Perspectives, web chats, sponsored sessions at ASHA conventions, advocacy with ASHA and the community, and many other SIG 14 activities have served to advance research and practice related to normal and impaired communication among culturally and linguistically diverse individuals. The Coordinating Committee wishes to thank those who, over the last two decades, have served on the coordinating committee, contributed to Perspective as editor, associate editor, or reviewer, presented on behalf of SIG 14, and who volunteered their time. We also have great appreciation for the SIG 14 members, as all of us share a commitment to culturally and linguistically diverse populations in our field. This is an amazing community of professionals and together we can look forward to what the next two decades will bring.
